A milestone has been set by Wal-Mart distributing food and products to needy people through food banks throughout the country.Since 2005 the company has distributed more than one billion meals in food and products to people in need. Locally Wal-Mart stores in the Southwest Arkansas Northeast Texas region have contributed by giving over two and half million meals to the Harvest Texarkana Regional Food Bank during the same time period.

Food that comes from the stores has helped Harvest Texarkana to nourish families throughout our area and helped sustain programs such as the BackPack Program and Mobile Pantry.

According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture more than 50 million people in the United Statyes are struggling with hunger. Nearly 17 million of that number are children.

Harvest Texarkana Regional Food Bank serves Bowie County in Northeast Texas, along with Miller, Lafayette, Hempstead, Little River, Sevier, Howard, Pike, Nevada, and Columbia Counties in Southwest Arkansas.
