Calling all interested people both young and old. You are needed as a volunteer for the "Color Your Park" event at Bobby Ferguson Park in Texarkana, Ark.

The City of Texarkana, Ark., is hosting Color Your Park on Saturday, March 28, 2015. This is a workday at Bobby Ferguson Park and is an opportunity for residents to get involved with bringing color to the park.

“These parks belong to our citizens and this allows them to gain a sense of ownership,” said Ross Cowling, parks superintendent.

The event will include planting flowers for the spring and summer, and painting and staining various parks equipment including bridges, trashcans and the fishing dock. Volunteers are needed and the event is open to everyone.

“There will be projects that all ages can help with, from adults to kids,” said Brandy Lewis, recycling coordinator. “We also have two different start times, to catch those who like to get going early plus accommodate those who don’t move as fast in the morning.”

Planting will begin at 8 a.m. and painting projects start at 10 a.m. This beautification event is registered through Keep Arkansas Beautiful as part of the Great American Cleanup. Gift bags and supplies will be provided to each volunteer.

In the event of rain, “Color Your Park” will be rescheduled. For more information, please call 870-779-4946.
