Threatening phone calls shut down the Texarkana, Texas Walmart Supercenter for a short time Sunday night.

Management at the store on New Boston Road made the decision to close the store after they received a telephone call at about 7PM from an unidentified person stating there was a bomb in the store.

In a second call, a caller demanded money from the store manager and threatened to “start shooting people” if the demand was not met.

Police say the store manager made the decision to close the store until he was confident that the threat was a hoax and that there was no danger to customers or employees. The store returned to "business as usual" after about 30 minutes.

The Texarkana, Texas Police Department said it takes these types of threats seriously and will investigate the incident thoroughly.
