The Texas High Tigers have had a very successful baseball season and now they are ready to extend their season as the high school playoffs begin.

The Tigers, led by Head Coach John McClure, are district champions this season having finished the regular campaign with a record of 19-5 overall and 12-2 in district games. McClure said with 8 returning players from last year's squad, "they expected a very good year," and that is exactly what has happened.

"This team is experienced, hard working and a tight knit bunch of guys," Coach McClure said.

Coach says that several players have stood out in their efforts so far. They include pitcher Kip Williams, who was undefeated in district play and relief closing pitcher Colby Adkins who appeared in 10 of the 14 district games.

McClure singled out top hitters, J.T.  Morgan, Kyrian Williams, Cade Thompson, Trevor Danley, and Colby Adkins.

As for going deep into the playoffs Coach McClure, said, "We'll have to be consistent in all three phases of the game. Momentum is also a big factor in playoff games, as well as dealing with adversity. A little luck always helps."

McClure praised his coaching staff and administrative support. Scott Mennie handles the pitching staff and coaches first base for the Tigers. Vince Minter coaches outfielders and helps with game management.

The Tigers begin playoff action against Whitehouse this weekend with a best of three series. Game one is this Friday at 7PM at Texas High. Game two will be Saturday at 1PM at Whitehouse. Game three, if necessary, would follow 30 minutes later, also at Whitehouse.

Good luck to Coach John McClure and his Texas High Tigers Baseball team in this year's playoffs.
