Texarkana Police Continue to Investigate Weekend Shootings
The Texarkana Texas Police Department continues to investigate three separate shootings that occurred over this past weekend.
None of the injuries were thought to be life threatening in any of the unrelated shooting incidents.
Firs, officers responded to a report of a shooting victim at Wadley Regional Medical Center’s emergency room on Friday afternoon at 5:36. The 39 year old man, who had been shot once in the abdomen, had been transported to the hospital by his friends. Witnesses told officers that the shooting occurred in the 100 block of South Lelia Street after the victim and another man got into an argument over tire rims.
The second shooting was reported at 10:22 on Sunday morning when officers were dispatched to the emergency room at Christus St. Michael Hospital. A thirteen year old boy had been brought in by his mother with gunshot wounds to his hand and groin area. Detectives determined that the victim and two other juvenile males where playing video games when one of the other two boys started playing with a handgun. When it accidentally discharged, the bullet traveled through his hand, a video game controller, and then became lodged in his pelvic area.
The third shooting occurred in the 300 block of Cheyenne Place at 9:49 on Sunday night. After officers were dispatched to a residence there, they located a sixteen year old male victim with a gunshot wound to his finger. He indicated that two juvenile males drove up beside him as he walked on Cheyenne Place. As part of a continuing dispute from earlier in the day between the juveniles, they accused the victim of stealing a firearm when he was at their home and demanded that he immediately return it. The victim stated that one of the juveniles in the truck shot him after a heated verbal exchange between the three of them
