Texarkana City Board to Consider Clydesdale Parade

The Budweiser Clydesdale horses are coming to Texarkana later this month. You'll likely even get the chance to see them in a parade.The Texarkana, Ark., City Board of Directors will consider a request at tonight's meeting to allow an Eagle Distributing of Texarkana Clydesdale horse parade. The event is planned for 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 27, in downtown Texarkana.

In other matters, the board will also consider authorizing the acting City Manager to execute a contract between the city and the Arkansas Historic Preservation Program to carry out the Certified Local Government preservation activities.

Also, the board will consider the travel and or training for the Historic District Commission and staff, and development of a preservation/tourism website, and a preservation celebration activity to be held in May of 2016.

There will also be a City of Texarkana, Arkansas Employee/Retiree Service Awards Ceremony, along with comments from the mayor, questions from directors, and citizen communication time.

A closed executive session will be held that will focus on boards and commissions expiration of terms.

The public is invited to attend the open portions of tonight's meeting that gets under way at 6:30 p.m. at Arkansas City Hall.
