T.I.S.D Teachers to Attend Elite Development Program
Four Texas High teachers have been selected to participate in an elite development program.
The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation has selected the educators to participate in the “Elevating and Celebrating Effective Teaching and Teachers” (ECET2) Conference, which will be held in San Diego, Calif., for three days beginning January 29. Only 200 teachers from the United States were invited to attend the all-expense paid professional development program.
THS teachers selected to attend are: Alonza Allen who teaches 9th Grade English I; Brittny Ray-Crowell who teaches English II and English III AP for 10th and 11th Grades; Brooke Ferguson who teaches English IV at the 12th Grade level; and Jenny Walker who teaches English II along with REACH III & IV in 10th – 12th Grades.
For the past three years, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation has sponsored a series of national ECET2 conferences which bring teachers together to share their success and challenges while elevating the profession. The national conference is designed for teachers, by teachers.
ECET2 hinges on the fact that nobody knows teaching like teachers. In addition to teacher-designed workshops, the conference also brings teachers together in Colleague Circles, a collaboration structure that allows teachers to continue to learn from each other beyond the meeting.
