We all saw the images of that old beautiful historic Texarkana house go up in flames on Sunday. The Texarkana Arkansas Police have made an arrest on who they suspect is responsible.

Back on Sunday morning, the old Victorian house known as the Whitmarsh house located at 711 Pecan Street in Texarkana was destroyed by a fire.  This house was built in 1894. It is even more sad to see that back in 1980 the house was put on the National Register of Historic Places.

According to ArklatexHomePage.com,  27-year-old Cameron Coolidge had been seen going in and out of the house shortly before the fire started.

In the video below the Texarkana Fire Marshall, Jim Wall states that police caught up with Coolidge a few blocks away. Coolidge reportedly stated he started the fire and police at the scene said that he smelled like smoke. Coolidge was arrested and has been charged with arson plus obstructing governmental operations.

It is truly so sad to see this house go up in flames. I had the chance to see the inside of it a few years back and the woodwork and craftsmanship of the home was just amazing. they don't make houses like this anymore and it is just heartbreaking to see some of Texarkana history up in flames and gone in a matter of minutes.

LOOK: Here are the best lake towns to live in

Many of the included towns jump out at the casual observer as popular summer-rental spots--the Ozarks' Branson, Missouri, or Arizona's Lake Havasu--it might surprise you to dive deeper into some quality-of-life offerings beyond the beach and vacation homes. You'll likely pick up some knowledge from a wide range of Americana: one of the last remaining 1950s-style drive-ins in the Midwest; a Florida town that started as a Civil War veteran retirement area; an island boasting some of the country's top public schools and wealth-earners right in the middle of a lake between Seattle and Bellevue; and even a California town containing much more than Johnny Cash's prison blues.
