Over the past few years, a lot of stores have been trying to cash in on the Black Friday sales by opening up earlier and earlier on that eventually the stores were opening up on Thanksgiving! Some stores have decided to stop the madness and kick that idea to the wind. They have decided to stay closed on Thanksgiving.

While some people loved the idea of stores open on Thanksgiving Day, others (me included) thought "Why can't stores just stay closed on Thanksgiving, so their employees can enjoy the day too?"

According to the website Best Black Friday, there are approximately 60 national retail stores that have confirmed they will be closed on Thanksgiving Day. The ones that are in Texarkana and surrounding areas are listed below.

  • Academy Sports and Outdoors
  • Harbor Freight
  • Hobby Lobby
  • Home Depot
  • Lowe’s
  • Marshalls
  • Office Depot and OfficeMax
  • PetSmart
  • Pier 1 Imports
  • Sam’s Club
  • Sears Hometown Stores (Atlanta, Texas. Hope, AR. and Nashville AR.
  • Sprint (Corporate & Dealer Owned Stores)
  • Staples
  • TJ Maxx
  • Tractor Supply

These are rumored to be closed but haven't actually confirmed it yet:

  • AT&T
  • Bed Bath & Beyond
  • Dillard’s

Of course, more stores could be added to the list as we get closer to Thanksgiving and some store could change their mind. We shall wait and see. In the meantime, it's good to know that employees at these stores will be able to enjoy the holiday with their family and friends.
