Police Arrest One for Aggravated Robbery, Issue Warrant for Other Suspect
On Oct. 16, 2015, Alvin Phillips, 22, of Hope was charged with Aggravated Robbery in connection with an incident that occurred on Aug. 11, 2015 at the Triple J Shell gas station on North Hazel Street in Hope, Ark. The Hope Police Department also have a warrant for the arrest of Billy McCauley, 23, of Hope on the charge of Aggravated Robbery in the same incident.
The incident happened on Aug. 11, 2015, at approximately 4:10AM. Officers of the Hope Police Department responded to the 2600 block of North Hazel Street in Hope, known as Triple J Shell Gas Station, in reference to a robbery that had just occurred.
Upon arrival officers made contact with the store clerk, and learned that at approximately 4AM two males with their faces covered entered the store. One of the suspects reportedly ran up to the counter and pointed what appeared to be a handgun concealed inside of a sock at the clerk. The second suspect allegedly ran around the counter and struck the clerk on the left side of his head with a wooden stick. The clerk was then instructed to open the register. The two suspects then reportedly fled from the store with an undisclosed amount of money and merchandise.
One of the suspects is described as a black male with a slender build and approximately 6 feet tall. The other male suspect is described as having a bigger build and also approximately 6 feet tall. Both males were wearing dark pants, white shirts, and had their faces covered.
The store clerk was treated at Wadley Regional Medical Center at Hope for injuries sustained during the robbery and was later released.
