Texarkana, Texas Police and emergency personnel responded to a major accident just before midnight last night.

Authorities say the single vehicle accident occurred around 11:45PM on St. Michael Drive at Richill Drive.

A 2006 Pontia G6 travelling westbound on St. Michael Drive left the roadway for unknown reasons before entering the ditch and striking the culvert in front of TaMolly’s Mexican Restaurant. The driver, 30-year-old Jyrean Jones of Texarkana, Texas, was ejected from the vehicle through the driver’s side window. His wife, 27-year-old Sadie Jones, was trapped inside the vehicle and had to be extricated by emergency personnel. She suffered a broken hip and leg.
The couple’s three children, ages 3, 7, and 8, were in the back seat and were all injured.
All five people were transported to area hospitals. Two of the children were later airlifted to a Little Rock hospital where one is being treated with head trauma and the other a collapsed lung. They are listed as being in critical but stable condition.
No one in the vehicle was wearing a seat belt.
