Miller County Tax Collector Arrested For Theft

Melissa Barnes, the Tax Collector for Miller County, Ark. was arrested Thursday for theft of property, which is a class "D" felony.

According to a press release issued by Prosecuting Attorney Carlton D. Jones, the alleged conduct is related to her elected position as tax collector.

Following her arrest, a $10,000 bond was set and Barnes is not to return to her office or perform any official duties until an investigation into the matter is complete.
