J.W.’s News Update: Tuesday November 1st, 2011

The Bowie County Texas Sheriff's Race is about to heat up. Mike Landers has announced his intention to run in the Republican Primary next Spring. Landers says he will kick off his campaign with an event at Smokey Joes Restaurant in Nash, Texas at 9am on November 12th. The public is invited to attend.

The Current Bowie County Sheriff James Prince ran on the Democratic ballot.

The Taste of Home Cooking School Event is happening this evening at the Four States Fair Entertainment Center. Doors open at 4pm with the show starting at 6:30. Tickets are $12 dollars and will be sold at  the door this evening.

In Sports:

Congratulations to the Texas High Tigers who are winners of this years Kicker Cup City Championship of High School football in Texarkana. The Tigers are finishing the regular season with the best overall record at 7-3.  The L-E Leopards who won the title last year will finish 2nd with a 6-4 record.

A trophy presentation will occur at the Texas High School Playoff Pep Rally next week.
