Update: Amber Alert East Texas Children Found, Man Arrested

Update September 1, 7:45AM

According to KETK.com, a man has been arrested and charged with kidnapping the two children that were on the Amber Alert yesterday in East Texas. They were all found in Kilgore. Both children are okay.

The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office said Jesse Schmidt has been booked into the Cherokee County Jail and his bond was set at $500,000.

There is an ACTIVE AMBER ALERT right now. It was issued this morning on Tuesday, August 31. The Amber Alert is for two children from east Texas.

Police need your help in locating Ashlynn Wells and Desmond Wells III from Rusk, TX which is just south of Tyler. They are believed to be traveling in a black 2012 Honda Civic with TX plate BNX-6155.

They were last seen at 1:15 PM yesterday Monday, August 30. Ashlynn Wells is 10 years old with blonde hair and blue eyes and stands at 5 feet and 2 inches. She was last seen wearing a peach-colored shirt and shorts with pink and gray Nike shoes.

Her brother Desmond is 11 years old with blonde hair and brown eyes and stands at 5 feet and 5 inches. He was last seen wearing a blue-black shirt, gray shorts

and Wolverine hiking boots.

They are traveling with Jessie Jay Schmidt a 32-year-old white male with brown hair and hazel eyes. He is 5 foot 10 inches and 160lbs.
