The Program for Learning and Community Engagement at Texas A&M University-Texarkana will present “Protecting Children in an Ever-Evolving Digital World”.

This program will feature a special agent from the FBI on Tuesday, March 20, at 7 p.m. in University Center 217 on the A&M-Texarkana campus, 7101 University Ave., Texarkana, Texas.

The FBI will cover current trends in internet crimes against children world-wide, current websites and applications utilized by predators, some case studies and methods to protect ourselves and children, and efforts by the FBI and law enforcement to combat Internet crimes against children, child pornography and the sexual exploitation of children in general.

“This is a serious topic in today’s time and the community needs to equip itself with the tools and resources necessary to protect our children,” said Dr. Corrine Hinton, assistant professor of English and chair of the PLACE program at A&M-Texarkana.

PLACE is a faculty-led program designed to create a community of learners comprising A&M-Texarkana students, faculty, staff and the community at large. PLACE chooses an annual theme around which to organize a lecture series and other activities that provide focal points for learning and discussion. This year’s theme is “science and technology.”
