The Texas High Tigers are hoping to build on last Friday's overtime win in Kilgore.

The Tigers will host Marshall this week at Tiger Stadium at Grim Park.

Tiger Head Football Coach Gerry Stanford says it was important that they, " Gave great effort against a great team. We felt like we did that and that is what gave us a chance."

The game did go into overtime and Stanford says they practiced overtime situations everyday during spring practice and now once a week during the season.

The offense was clicking the other night and the coach says the offensive line did a great job. Others who he cited as having a big night included, running back Chris Sutton, wide receiver Tevailance Hunt, defensive lineman Jailyn Franklin, and defensive lineman Devaunte Harper.

After a slow start to the season, the Tiger offense has been heating up quite a bit in the last couple of games. Stanford credits practice habits, focus, and effort.

Next up for the Tigers is the game against Marshall. Stanford says they are an extremely talented team, with plenty of size and team speed.

Besides a victory in the game, Stanford says he would like to see the team continue to improve overall team discipline, as in cut down on penalties and turnovers.

The Tigers seem to be settling in and getting used to the new coaches and changes that came this year. That is probably not good news for the other teams in their conference. They are improving each week and could be prepared to roll off a string of victories.
