The Early Morning Prayer Breakfast
Kim Harper-Johnson, a wife and mother, has been in the radio broadcast industry for the past 17 years in Memphis, Tennessee. She began her radio career as the mid-day personality for WBBP AM, Bountiful Blessings Radio which was owned and operated by the late Bishop G. E. Patterson.
In 1997, Kim joined WLOK Radio. She served as mid-day personality for WLOK for 6 years, consistently ranking in the top ten in the Memphis market. In 1998, Kim became the Music Director and the following year she also became Program Director for WLOK preforming both jobs for 11 years. In 2003 Kim was promoted to the WLOK Early Morning Show. In the Memphis market, which has 30 competing radio stations, Kim Harper-Johnson was a favorite with listeners in the morning during her six year run, consistently ranking in the Top 10 with the likes of The Steve Harvey Morning Show. Tom Joyner and the living Memphis legend, Bobby O’Jay. She has been blessed to win “Radio Personality of the Year” several times throughout her career. In 2009, Kim won the prestigious Memphis Stone Award for Radio Personality of the Year. The same year, Kim won the Rhythm of Gospel Award for Announcer of the Year.
Currently, Kim continues her career in radio in the Jackson metro area. And in June 2010, she won the prestigious, national James S. Wolf Courage Award 2010 for her work with spreading the message of organ, tissue and eye donation. In addition, Kim has 12 years experience as the talent coordinator, stage manager and public relations manager of the Stone Soul Picnic of Memphis.
In that same year, Kim Harper-Johnson’s radio career came full circle as she made her triumphant return back to radio where it all began, WBBP. She is the host of a daily morning variety show - “The Early Morning Prayer Breakfast” with Kim Harper-Johnson.
