The Liberty-Eylau Leopard baseball team is gearing up for district play that begins soon.

The Leopards are hoping to improve on the 2017 season where they finished 9-19, 2-8 in district, and missed the playoffs.

L-E is headed in the right direction with their second year Head Coach Zach Fowler. The Leopards have 5 starters that returned from last year and more that saw significant playing time. Four of these are senior starters and the rest juniors and sophomores.

Coach Fowler says that he will relying on seniors Bryan Moore, Cutter Webb, and Colton Robinson to do the balance of the pitching chores for his team.

So far this season, Webb, Moore, Trevarie Hodge, Blake Carter, and Marzavian Riles have been the most prolific batters and RBI producers for the Leopards.

Coach Fowler says the team needs to improve on defense as they head into district play. He expects the district to be competitive again this season, saying," There are no easy wins in this district." The district includes, L-E, PG, Atlanta, Pittsburgh, Paris, and North Lamar.

As for expectations for this season, Fowler says simply," I expect us to come out everyday with the right approach and to stay focused on our goals, We need to put in the work and improve everyday."

Coach Fowler has these Leopards focused on what they need to achieve and you can expect maximum effort out of these players. Should be a fun season to watch at L-E.
