Kids of all ages will be able to "train" to be a junior firefighter on Saturday, June 25, during Sparks in the Park at the Four States Fairgrounds. The kids will have race through an obstacle course while taking on the role of a firefighter.

This is a great way to teach children about fire safety and give them confidence about what to do during a fire emergency situation. And who knows? Your child may decide to become a firefighter.

The event is for kids of all ages noted Michael Haynes with the Texarkana, Arkansas Fire Department.

“We will have a high rise, pack hose carry, a confined space tunnel crawl and a hose spray evolution. The guys that will be operating the course are members of the TAFD Honor guard and members of B Crew Engine 4 Company," he said.

The video below shows how the event appeared when it was set up at this year’s RailFest.

"We set up the obstacle course to interact with our community in a positive atmosphere where they can experience some of the skills and techniques used by professional firefighters," Haynes said.

The kids get to wear some of the same type of outfits that firefighters wear as children run the course, pretending to save lives and putting out fires out with real firefighter hoses.
